Soap Making Workshop, October 22 Purdy Natural London
Join us this October for an Intro to Soap Workshop at Purdy Natural London, happening on the 22nd from 6-9pm. Learn how to make soap from scratch, how to calculate your recipes, how to adjust your bars (e.g. to be harder, softer, gentler, etc), important safety considerations when using Lye and soap making, and everything else you’ll need to know to get started. In this hands on class, you’ll get to make your own full custom loaf (8 bars) of cold process soap from scratch.
The cost of this class includes 1 silicone soap mold, 1 full loaf of take-home soap, and a starter booklet on soap making by The Eco Well. Please bring your own gloves, glasses (sunglasses work great!), close-toed shoes and old clothes with long sleeves (soap making can be messy!). If you have a stick blender that you’d like to use for soap making, bring it along, but we’ll have a few on hand for the group to share. All of the rest of your materials will be supplied by us.
We have very limited tickets for this class to ensure lots of hands-on time and time for questions. If you’d like to join in, be sure to register earlier rather than later. Are you already an experienced soap maker? Let us know in advance and we can modify your lesson to suit your level :).
This session will be led by Jen Novakovich, cosmetic chemist with a passion for green and science-driven formulations. She attended the University of Guelph studying Nutraceuticals, with an emphasis on cosmeceuticals, and completed her graduate studies in cosmetic chemistry. She's the director here at The Eco Well as well as the environmental organization The Eco Market.
